Zakopane

The Tatra Mountains of southern Poland

Published January 16th, 2024

Back in October I spent around 5 days in Polish town called Zakopane. It's located in the very south of the country at the base of the Tatra Mountains, near the Slovakia border. I stayed in what is probably one of the coolest hostels in the entire world (or at least Europe), Good Bye Lenin. It's basically a cabin in the woods, making for a very cozy, friendly atmosphere. The hostel was near a lot of great hiking, which I may have overindulged in - I averaged over 10 miles per day while in Zakopane. I was quite sore for a while after this, these mountains are no joke. Hope you enjoy this series as much as I enjoyed curating it...I'm in Buffalo right now and it has been snowing relentlessly, so it's nice to think of warmer times.
