Doo Wop architecture from the 50's and 60's on the Jersey Shore
Published November 23rd, 2023
Wildwood, New Jersey is one of my favorite destinations for photographing nostalgic Americana scenes. I tend to visit at least once per year, typically in the dead of winter. The town is home to many Doo Wop (also known as Googie) style motels that were built in the 1950's to 1970's. While some of the historic structures have been demolished over time, many still exist and efforts have been made to protect the buildings through listings in the National Register of Historic Places and the establishment of a local historic district.
